This session will examine the challenges of delivering pharmaceutical care in the developing world and discuss the industry’s responsibilities to less developed countries.

 

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
• Describe barriers and challenges to delivery of healthcare to patients in developing countries
• Discuss factors or solutions in facilitating delivery of healthcare and addressing unmet medical needs in developing countries
• Describe the pre-exposure clinical trials and studies of topical microbicides underway to stem the tide of human immunodeficiency virus infection.

This session will describe case studies of programs underway in the ambulatory care setting of congestive heart failure (CHF) and lipid clinics.

 

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
• Describe the role of a pharmacist in the ambulatory care setting of CHF and lipid clinics.
• Review lipid management discussing both pharmacotherapy and dietary options
• Discuss management of adolescent dyslipidemias and updates for management of dyslipidemias in women.
